It was quick. It was traumatic. It was devastating. It was thorough. It was liberating and it is humbling. But, I have converted. Many will be shocked by this news. Some will perhaps be saddened. Others will be happy, because they knew it was coming. But, nonetheless, I feel an obligation to admit my long-term fault. After what I have so boldly written on this blog and after leading others astray who I deeply care for – I cannot but publicly confess and make my conversion known to all.

I am now a user of Google Reader.

There. I said it. It is over. And it feels so good to get that off my chest. After yesterday’s post (which I actually composed almost two weeks ago) about the necessity of using an RSS reader and why I was sticking with FeedReader, I have converted – drank the Kool-aid and am now a true convert and an avid and user of Google Reader. How and why did it happen?

It began Saturday. After all the bragging on my RSS feeder that I’ve been using almost since beginning THE CAPRANICA, it gave up the ghost. It was really quite sad, shocking – and now that I’ve publicly bragged about FeedReader and almost dissed Google Reader, I have to swallow my pride and admit that Google Reader is better – FAR better and superior to FeedReader. I know you are shocked.

So, let me be clear. If you are reading more than one blog and not using Google Reader, you may well be in sin. It is probably sin to waste so much time not using an RSS reader. And once you have one, if you are not taking advantage of God’s good providence in providing Google Reader, you are short-changing yourself of His wise benevolence – and somehow, that is probably sin also.

I have learned, since my false accusations, that Google Reader can actually be used offline by employing Google Gears. The set-up is easy and allows offline use of more than one Google product. I have also learned that I can review more blogs more quickly and effectively by using Google Reader. I find FireFox to be the superior web-browser for Google Reader. I’m not going to detail all the differences and benefits, but if you take my word and learn from one whose tasted two sorts of RSS fruit, you will immediately understand.

So, I repent; publicly, openly, humbly and yet joyfully. While I will leave my previous post as is without editing so as to preserve my humiliation, I have converted. I now use Google Reader and feel quite convinced that if you are reading this you should also.
