potluck1.jpgWednesday, Thursday and Saturday are major study days for me. So here’s “tick-tock” for yesterday, Wednesday, May 2.

3:00 a.m. Awoke to shower an dress for the day

3:30 a.m. Devotional Time in my home study

3:45 a.m. Brie woke up and was ready to eat. This was a bit unexpected. She has been sleeping until around 6:00 a.m. but she did go to bed pretty early the night before, so my Devotional time was put off a bit to feed the little bundle. She was waiting for me with a huge smile, excitedly kicking, waiting to be fed. Sleep was not really on her schedule for this morning. She decided to stay awake and be fussy and playful and talkative to the tune of about an hour. She finally calmed down and I could put her back down without having to get up again too soon.

4:45 a.m. Back to Devotional Time

5:45 a.m. Checked a number of blogs and news stories

6:00 a.m. I had scheduled to do some work on my DMin project, however, I really need more than an hour to be effective with it. So, I spent the hour reading from Believer’s Baptism by Schreiner and Wright, a book I have been wanting to finish soon. I almost finished the book.

7:00 a.m. Breakfast with Kelly and spent time reading from Piper’s book, God is the Gospel.

7:45 a.m. Finished preparing to leave for work, and headed to make a visit at a convalescent home before heading to the office.

8:00 a.m. Visit at convalescent home with one of our members who will not be going back to her home. Her body was quite frail, but her mind was very sharp and we had a wonderful visit. Despite her frailty and discouraging circumstances, her faith was strong and she was looking for ways she could be a blessing to the nurses and her family members. She was a great encouragement.

8:45 a.m. At the office. As I arrived two of our older members had stopped by for quick visit with any and all of the pastors who happened to be present. This is another encouraging couple who have a host of physical problems but who continually seek to encourage others despite their physical setbacks. Again, very encouraged.

9:10 a.m. At my desk to hit a number of tasks for the day. I scheduled a time to have our pianos tuned, had a very lengthy conversation with a company we are looking into using to help some of our young men with accountability with internet pornography. I also worked on various tasks associated with a number of projects and a few issue related to our church finances.

11:30 a.m. Our area Director of Missions came by to have lunch with three of our pastors. We visited for a bit in the office and then headed to lunch.

1:00 p.m. Back at the office for about another half hour alone with our DOM regarding his personal advice regarding a committee I happen to be on and a resume’ of a man we would love to see in our geographic area.

1:30 p.m. packed up to head home. Brief conversation with the other two pastors about our lunch visit.

2:10 p.m. At home and in my study. I had to make final comments and revisions for our Sunday bulletin, responded to a number of e-mail, read a few headlines online.

2:45 p.m. Did Lexical and Syntactical study on Romans 5:15-17 for Sunday’s sermon.

5:45 p.m. Left for church.

6:00 p.m. We had a pot-luck last night with about forty minutes of Bible Question and Answer with our three pastors and the congregation. I felt like we had some of the best questions of the past three times we have done this and overall, had a great time.

8:45 p.m. After staying around to chat with people and help with a bit of the clean-up and set up for a Friday event, I took one of our interns home and then made it home.

9:10 p.m. I’m almost comatose, so its off to bed for me.

Pretty average Wednesday. Wish I could have spent the afternoon with more study, but overall thankful for all that was done.
